New French film 'Welcome' tells the story of Bilal an Iraqi immigrant trying to reach England where his girlfriend has recently settled. The realistic movie explores "Fortress Europe" from Bilal's perspective with all its rules, regulations and racist attitudes. Bidisha talks to director Philippe Lioret.

The Strand continues with the fourth part of the serialisation of George Orwell's Animal Farm. Published in 1945, Orwell's satire captures, with bitter humour, what happens when a Communist revolution goes wrong. Read by the South African actor John Kani.
