Robert Crumb
The work of the cult cartoonist Robert Crumb has been favourably compared to that of the great masters Breugal and Goya. His brightly coloured satires are also known as misanthropic and sex-obsessed. And now he's taken on the biggest project of his career - an illustrated book of Genesis. The Strand talks to Robert Crumb and gets the verdict on this biblical work.

2009 Winner of the Prix Pictet
The click Prix Pictet is an annual search for photographs that communicate powerful messages of global environmental significance. This year is the theme is "earth" and the Strand's John Laurenson was at the gala ceremony in Paris to hear Kofi Annan announce this year's winner, the Israeli born photographer Nadav Kander.

Three Men on the Metro
Poets Andy Croft and W N Herbert talk about their new book, inspired by two weeks they spent travelling on the Moscow Metro system, which is as famous for its artwork as it is for its trains.

Lake of Stars Music Festival
Malawi's Lake of Stars international music festival has just taken place of the shores of Lake Malawi. Now in its sixth year, the festival was founded in 2004 with the aim of promoting Malawian music and tourism and has grown to attract international artists and DJs who gather for a musical, social and cultural exchange. The festival this year was its biggest so far and attracted over 3000 festival goers from all over the world to enjoy music on the palm-fringed beaches. This year's line-up featured over 15 local Malawian artists, including Lucius Banda, The Black Missionaries and Tay Grin and international acts including British bands The Maccabees, SWAY and Hot Chip's Joe Goddard.
The Strand's Cathryn Wood was at the festival to find out about the musical meetings that take place.
