Aye-aye wake up
Perservence and patience pay off for Stephen and Mark when they eventually catch a glimpse of not one but two wild aye ayes in the trees. There are only four aye ayes on the island so this is a rare piece of luck. When the aye aye's first emerge in the evening they hang upside down like bats, and groom themselves before heading off to feed. Here, the aye aye has just woken up ready for the night's activities. On this island, they begin the night's feast with coconuts and lychees. They tap the sides of the coconut to see how much milk there is and whether there's any point in boring a hold to get to it. Mark tries to get a face on photo and eventually succeeds in capturing this bizarre but beguiling animal.
