In this HARDtalk special programme, Zeinab Badawi talks to one of the world's great statesmen and best known Africans, Kofi Annan, as he celebrates his 80th birthday. In a career spanning six decades at the United Nations, he has held several senior positions - including two terms as Secretary-General from 1997-2006. There were the highs like the award of the Nobel Peace Prize, but also tragic events such as the Rwandan genocide and the massacre of Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica. In this rare and exclusive interview recorded in front of an invited audience in Geneva, the former UN Secretary-General looks back on his work and talks frankly about what he believes he should have done better and what are his biggest worries today. HARDtalk then opens up the conversation with questions from the audience.
