Margaret Atwood is among the most-honoured authors of fiction in recent history and one of the world's leading female authors. From Canada, she is a novelist as well as a poet and short-story writer. She has been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize five times, winning once with The Blind Assassin (2000). A varied and prolific writer she has published over 30 critically-acclaimed books. Her notable works include The Handmaid's Tale (1985), which has sold millions of copies worldwide, and The Robber Bride (1993) as well as the Oryx and Crake trilogy that culminates in her latest novel Maddadam (2013), which will be released this Autumn.
