In 1948 the University of Manchester built the Manchester Baby, also known as the Small-Scale Experimental Machine (SSEM). You couldn't play games on it or use it to answer your e-mails but it was the world's first first electronic stored-program computer and the perfect excuse to bring you tunes by the likes of France Gall.
