True stories of travel and adventure by women: Emily Eden鈥檚 mid-1800s journeys in British Imperial India. Stars Sarah Badel.
Emily Eden journeyed across British Imperial India in the mid-1800s. She was the sister and companion to Lord Auckland, Governor General of India.
'We travel half the way on elephant and the other half on horseback, and we are followed by eight hundred and fifty camels, a hundred and forty elephants, several hundred horses, George's official bodyguard, a full regiment as escort, and a whole host of camp followers. Thus we are about 12,000 people in all. On occasions the front of the column arrives at the new camp before the rear of it has left the old.'
Stars Sarah Badel as Emily Eden. Narrated by Richard Pasco.
