As we celebrate Smokey Robinson's 85th birthday, the genius described by Bob Dylan as America鈥檚 greatest living poet looks back over his amazing life and songs in 91热爆 interviews.

Named America鈥檚 greatest living poet by Bob Dylan, we celebrate the 85th birthday of William 'Smokey' Robinson. He looks back over his amazing life, career at Motown and inspirational song catalogue in 91热爆 radio and television interviews with presenters Paul Gambaccini, Alex Jones, Natasha Kaplinski, Dermot Monaghan, Jonathan Ross, Matt Everitt, Nicky Campbell, Jools Holland, Martin Freeman and producers Stuart Grundy and Tim Blackmore.

Smokey remembers being surrounded by music at home, then when he was a teenager, singing with friends for the first time in Detroit and meeting his idol Berry Gordy (when he was the songwriter for Jackie Wilson). Smokey mentions that he learned so much from Berry and was delighted to join him in his ground-breaking Motown adventures.

Smokey also discusses his work with other artists such as Mary Wells and The Temptations, the way he constructs his classic songs and his later solo success.
