This week's Bells on Sunday comes from the parish church of St Peters in Alton, Staffordshire. The original church was erected in the 12th century with a west tower built in the 13th century. The building was restored and enlarged in the 19th century. Previously there was a ring of eight bells however these were re-hung and augmented in 2023 by the John Taylor foundry in Loughborough to create a ring of ten bells. The Tenor weighs twenty two and a half hundredweight and is tuned to E flat. We hear part of the first peal on the augmented bells as they ring 鈥淕randsire Caters鈥�
