Spring's Nature Observers

Springwatch has been out filming some extraordinary wildlife encounters as we enjoy the best seasonal wildlife from across the British Isles.

Spring is a time when the natural world revives and reinvigorates after the colder winter months.

This year might have been wetter than usual but that hasn’t deterred us. Springwatch has been out and about, all over the UK, filming the very best of our natural world and uncovering some surprises along the way.

As Atlantic Puffins decline across Europe, there are colonies bucking the trend. Megan McCubbin heads to Skomer, to discover why this puffin breeding ground is thriving, and learns how it could help others across the UK.

Louis VI is a zoologist, musician, and rapper who combines his passions as he speaks up, and speaks out, for nature. He travels to a temperate rainforest in Wales to record the sounds of species whose voices we are at risk of losing altogether from our natural soundscape.

Award winning photographer Matt Maran has made it his mission to uncover and document the lives of London’s urban foxes. Building a close relationship with these candid canines, he uses his work to characterise them and change people’s opinions of the polarising, but fantastic, fox.

We delve into the life of Lira Valencia – influencer, Londoner and naturalist - as she delights in the wildlife of Walthamstow Wetlands. Her passion for engaging people with species that can be found on urban streets is clear as she takes a trip to heron island to ring the newly hatched chicks.
