Willie Miller

Episode 4 of 6

How Willie Miller captained Aberdeen to glory in Gothenburg and became a Dons legend.

Willie Miller was the greatest penalty box defender in the world, according to Sir Alex Ferguson. Miller captained Aberdeen to three league championships, as well as their greatest ever night - defeating Real Madrid in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final in 1983. Miller led Aberdeen to more European glory when the Dons defeated European Cup winners Hamburg in the Super Cup final, making Miller the only man in Scottish football history to lift two European trophies.

Miller went on to win a total of 12 major honours with Aberdeen and set a club record of 796 appearances in a career that lasted nearly 20 years with the Dons.

Featuring contributions from Richard Gordon, Sir Alex Ferguson, Graham Hunter, Gordon Strachan, Alex McLeish, Alan Rough, Jane Franchi and Graeme Park.
