The Revd Janet Fletcher

The Revd Janet Fletcher, the spirituality and ministry officer in Bangor Diocese, celebrates Pentecost.

The evening edition of the programme includes My Favourite Hymn.

"And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind."

This Sunday comes 50 days after Easter Day and today, The Day of Pentecost or Whit Sunday, the Western Christian Church celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus’s disciples in wind and flame. It was a bewildering moment for them but the disciples were being filled with courage and understanding to go out and preach about Jesus and to build up the very first Christian churches. In this service the Revd Janet Fletcher, the Spirituality and Ministry Officer in the Church in Wales’ Bangor Diocese, explores how the Holy Spirit manifests itself in the lives of individuals today.

Readings for Pentecost:
John 20: 19-23
Acts of the Apostles 2: 1-4

Hymns include ‘Spirit of the living God’, ‘Breathe on me breath of God’, ‘O thou who camest from above’.
