Sixteen charred bodies found in French woodland shock the public, and a French lawsuit opens. New photos of cult rituals damn a flamboyant former cult member, making him prime suspect.
Fourteen months after the first massacres, sixteen people, including three young children, are reported missing in the remote French region area of Vercors. France is in shock. Very quickly, they are identified as members of the Order of the Solar Temple. Eight days after their disappearance, sixteen incinerated bodies are found in remote woodland, in the small sleepy village of Saint-Pierre-de-Ch茅rennes. The bodies of the victims are gathered in the shape of a star with the remains of a huge bonfire at its centre.
French investigators build on the Swiss and Canadian research into the Order of the Solar Temple. Photos come to light in Canada of a former cult member, still living, who played a central role in the sect.
