A look back at Scotland's recent extreme winter weather.

This winter has been one of the stormiest on record. Ten named storms battered the UK, with four of them bringing strong winds and heavy rain to parts of Scotland. Then came the snow, causing parts of the north east of Scotland and Shetland to have to deal with travel disruption and school closures.

This programme looks back at the extreme winter weather we have experienced in Scotland over the past few months. Judith Ralston spends some time in Braemar, usually one of the coldest places in Scotland. She meets some of the volunteers with Braemar Mountain Rescue Team and goes out on the hills of Glenshee on a rescue training session. Christopher Blanchett goes on the road with Bear Scotland to see how the cold and increasingly wet winter weather affects our roads and transport infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Gillian Smart takes advantage of Scotland’s dark skies and teams up with an expert to see if she can catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
