with Tony Kearney

Two hours of music and conversation with a faith and ethical perspective. Taking the week's events to ask what they say about our values and beliefs.

Author Michael Taylor tells us about the discovery of dinosaurs and the consequences this had on the authority of the Bible. All of which he explores in his new book ‘Impossible Monsters, Dinosaurs, Darwin and the Victorian War Between Science and Religion’.

Martha Hennessy reflects on the legacy of her grandmother, the social activist Dorothy Day. She co-founded the Catholic Worker Movement, dedicating her life to acting on the teachings of her Catholic faith, tackling injustice and poverty.

A new documentary, Danger Zone, explores the rise of war tourism. Tony is joined by the film's director, Vita Maria Drygas, to discuss why conflict zones have become a holiday destination and the ethical concerns this poses.

Environmental scientist and activist Laura Young, Muslim chaplain to Herriot Watt University Shayk Hassan Rabbani, and theologian and medical ethicist Gina Menzies join Tony to chew over some of the week's topical stories from an ethical perspective.

They will discuss the new Westminster Government definition of extremism and its possible ramifications.

Also discussed - the challenges posed by the subject of assisted dying. A recent survey showed 75% of its respondents to be in support of changing the law to allow the terminally ill the option to die with assistance.

Following last weekend’s referendums proposing to re-word Ireland’s 1937 constitution to remove outdated language about the role of women and the nature of the family were rejected; our guests reflect on the definition and conceptual idea of 'family' in light of these unexpected referendum results.

And it’s World Happiness Day on Wednesday. The panel pour over what brings them joy and fulfilment in a world where we are often faced with uncertainty.
