Heanor 21
Two teams try to score a win at an antiques centre in Derbyshire, skippered by experts Catherine Southon and Mark Stacey.
Natasha Raskin Sharp finds out about an historic sporting event which dates back more than 500 years. Royal Shrovetide Football is like no game you have ever seen. For two days each year, the town of Ashbourne in Derbyshire becomes the venue for a supersized match where the goals are three miles apart!
For the red and blue teams, the shopping kicks off at an antiques centre in the Derbyshire town of Heanor, where they are helped by experts Mark Stacey and Catherine Southon. In red, it’s retired married couple Sean and Kay, and their opponents in blue are brother and sister Aman and Ranvir.
As soon as the whistle blows, Kay spots a set of naval rope-edged buttons, but Mark thinks there is something not quite shipshape about them. Meanwhile, Ranvir is drawn to some silver shoe hooks - but does expert Catherine think they would pull in the bidders? The competition really heats up at Colin Young’s auction in Grantham, where one item ends up making more than four times his estimate!
