Four Seasons
The race is on to find two climbers stranded in deep snow before night falls, a spate of wildfires puts fire and rescue teams under strain, and a hiker is caught out the day after the clocks change.
The stunning landscape in Eryri looks epic at any time of year, and draws millions of visitors, no matter the season. But it’s the changing seasons and dramatic weather conditions that can give rise to different kinds of emergency call-outs, all of which require a varied set of skills and experience.
Two climbers get stuck in deep snow on a dangerous peak on Tryfan’s North Tower and are at risk of hypothermia, so when the call for help goes out, the teams waste no time in heading out. But icy conditions slow down the rescuers, and it’s a race against the clock to get to there before night falls.
Springtime in Eryri, and March is traditionally the time farmers light bonfires to burn stubble. But this year, unseasonably warm and dry conditions lead to a dangerous spate of wildfires - over 100 in a single month, the most the area has seen in over 25 years. Fire and rescue teams must work around the clock for a month to keep the fast-spreading flames at bay.
A hiker gets caught out when the clocks change – finding himself unprepared to get off a mountain safely in pitch black conditions. Time to call in the rescue teams.
