Singer P.P Arnold joins Cerys to chat about her new music and her favourite blues records.
P.P. Arnold started her singing career as an Ikette, performing with Ike and Tina Turner. In 1967 she entered the UK Top 20 with her rendition of the Cat Stevens/Yusuf penned single First Cut Is The Deepest. Over the course of her 50+ year career she has worked with Barry Gibb, Nick Drake, Paul Weller, Eric Clapton, Steel Pulse and Ocean Colour Scene.
This year P.P. Arnold released her autobiography Soul Survivor, telling her story from growing up in LA and singing in gospel in church with family, through to joining the Ikettes and arriving in London in the sixties and being spotted by Mick Jagger. In 2022 she made her debut performance at Glastonbury.
