The album, Sisterhood, collects the stories of ten female singer-songwriters to whom Sarah Jane says she owes a huge amount of debt to, for example: Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, Miriam Makeba, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Annie Lennox and Kate Bush.
