Norman Paterson and Ewen Henderson

Norman Paterson joins Anna to talk about taking up songwriting and releasing his debut album, Torn, at the age of 65. Plus Ewen Henderson talk about his new project L猫irsinn.

Up until 2 years ago, Stornoway born Norman Paterson had never written a song. Now, at the age of 65, he's releasing his debut album, "Torn". Inspired by a life well lived, the characters who made an impact, thoughtful observations, and experiences that were special and remained firmly embedded as cherished memories; this is the stuff that stirs, particularly for those born an islander, who understands what it is to be torn. Norman joins Anna live to talk about his musical epiphany and share some of his songs.

Born out of imaginary travels during lockdown, Lochaber multi-instrumentalist and composer Ewen Henderson's latest project L猫irsinn (meaning perception in Gaelic) promises to be one of the highlights of this year鈥檚 Blas festival. Ewen tells Anna more about the project, which explores the way humans relate and respond to the physical spaces and landscapes around them and how this, in some way, is shaped by the imagination.
