Live music highlights and backstage interviews from the celebrated roots music festival.

Rufus Wainwright, Eliza Carthy, Lady Blackbird and Angeline Morrison are among the performers, as Mark Radcliffe returns to Cherry Hinton Hall for the 2023 Cambridge Folk Festival.

There鈥檚 also music and chat from artists including James Yorkston & Nina Persson and acclaimed jazz and soul singer Lady Blackbird.

Rufus Wainwright, son of Loudon Wainwright III and the late Kate McGarrigle, is currently exploring his folk roots. His new album, Folkocracy, features a set of folk duets with a surprising set of musical friends: John Legend, Chris Stills, Chaka Khan, Andrew Bird, Nicole Scherzinger and more.

Eliza Carthy, a singer and musician long established as an outstanding talent at the vanguard of British folk, is appearing with her band The Restitution.

Angeline Morrison, the songwriter based in Cornwall, will perform with her Sorrow Songs Band, named after Angeline鈥檚 landmark album, The Sorrow Songs: Folk Songs Of Black British Experience. In 2022, Angeline won the Christian Raphael Prize for emerging talent, which is presented annually at Cambridge Folk Festival. Angeline also took part in Radio 2鈥檚 21st Century Folk.

Scottish folk songwriter James Yorkston has teamed up with Swedish singer Nina Persson of The Cardigans, and assembled the Second Hand Orchestra. They perform songs from their touching and distinctive album, The Great White Sea Eagle.

Jazz and soul singer Lady Blackbird (real name Marley Munroe) is based in Los Angeles and released her outstanding album, Black Acid Soul, in 2021. She takes to the main stage on Friday evening.

Cambridge Folk Festival was founded in the 1960s and continues to take place at Cherry Hinton Hall Park in the south east of the city.
