Huey kicks off the season, celebrating 50 years since the birth of hip hop. This episode is all about the 70s, when the nascent art form was all about DJs spinning breaks. You'll hear from the man who, according to the legend, played the set that started hip hop, DJ Kool Herc. There are also words from Fab Five Freddie, Paradise Gray (X-Clan / Universal Hip Hop Museum), Breakbeat Lou, Chuck D and KRS-One.

Rounding things out, Mr Bongo presents a breaks and beats mix from DJ Koco, marking the reissue of the Incredible Bongo Band's debut album, which was so vital to the early pioneers of hip hop.
