Festival Season & The Mary Wallopers in Session

With Scotland's festival season in full swing Anna looks at highlights coming up over summer plus another chance to hear The Mary Wallopers in session ahead of their set at TRNSMT.

Scotland's festival season is in full swing with TRNSMT, Tiree Music Festival and Stonehaven Folk Festival all kicking off this weekend and many more still to come. To get you in the mood Anna has music from some of the festival highlights coming up over summer.

Plus you have another chance to hear the mighty Mary Wallopers in session on Travelling Folk ahead of their set on the King Tut's stage at TRNSMT this weekend. Praised for bringing excitement back to traditional ballad singing, the seven piece band were formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy and their friend Sean McKenna travelling the length and breadth of Ireland singing and collecting songs. Their early live performances exuded a raw energy with their self-titled first album perfectly capturing their sound and ethos, one filled with warmth, intimacy, chaos and enough sparks ready to light any fire.
