Celebrating 20 years of The Darkness!

Johnnie celebrates the 20th anniversary of Permission To Land, the debut album from The Darkness.

Twenty years ago this week, a band from Suffolk single-handedly set about revitalising full-on rock, with a side order of humour.

That band was The Darkness, and the album they released was 'Permission To Land'. Even though it completely confused some listeners at the time, it became a major hit. The album topped the UK chart for four weeks, delivered five hit singles and has now sold millions of copies.

The band also won three Brit Awards in 2004 in response to the album; Best Group, Best Rock Group and Best Album. Johnnie takes a closer look at the album for This Week in Rock, and also hears from guitarist Dan Hawkins, who's choosing his Rock God.
