With the return of plenty of live music in 2022, Gary West brings you some of the highlights of the piping year almost gone. There鈥檚 prizewinning sets from Willie McCallum and Alex Gandy, Cape Breton strathspeys and reels from Matt MacIsaac, and the sound of the world pipe band champions, the Field Marshall Montgomery whose pipe major, Richard Parkes, set a new record this year with his 13th world title win. This year鈥檚 International Quartet winners from Piping Live, the Scottish Power, treat us to their winning medley while there鈥檚 live studio session sets from Scottish pipes-driven folkies, Rura, and from Breton supremo, Xavier Boderiou. We also step back in time to a Wednesday night in August to savour a taster of one of the finest pipe band concerts of recent times, from the Inveraray and District Pipe Band.
