Turn of the Century: Labour Running Wales

In the final part of our series, historian Rhian E Jones looks back on two decades of Labour government in Wales.

It’s one hundred years since Labour first started to dominate the political landscape in Wales. And they are still the country’s dominant political party after an unbroken record of winning the most seats – that is a story unique in the UK.

In Clear Red Water social historian Rhian E Jones tracks the fortunes of this mighty political machine, and finds out about some of the individuals (some of whom most of us have never heard of) who built it into what it is today.

In the third programme, Rhian reviews Labour’s recent history – in power in Wales without a break since the dawn of devolution. She talks to historians and commentators and hears differing views on its performance. And she asks some current Labour members how they feel about the party and its achievements over the last 100 years.
