Rewind to 1970

A celebration of the music of the world pipe band champions from 52 years ago.

Gary West introduces an eclectic mix of bagpipe music, including a re-created performance of the set which was played by the Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia in their world championship win of 1970, the first year in which the new medley format was introduced. There are quartet sets from the Scottish Power and 78th Fraser Highlanders, a solo light music performance from Angus MacColl at this year鈥檚 Northern Meeting and a taster of the fantastic new release from Brighde Chaimbeul, Ross Ainslie and Steven Byrnes. And we bookend the programme with two of the finest bagpipe-infused folk bands who regularly take their music to audiences right across the globe, Daimh and Breabach.
