Mark Radcliffe celebrates roots music from around the Commonwealth, ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

In a two-hour special, Mark plays music that connects the UK with Australia, Canada, India, Pakistan and Jamaica.

His session guests include Australian duo, The Weeping Willows, who swing by Mark's Salford studio, and Canadian duo Mama's Broke who sing in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Glen Latouche, Tee Carthy and Elston McKenzie from folk-reggae band Edward II perform Jamaican mento songs in Manchester's Band on the Wall venue. The musicians from Manchester's Caribbean community look ahead to the 60th anniversary of Jamaican independence.

Percussion master and bandleader Johnny Kalsi (The Dhol Foundation) performs songs for the South Asian diaspora alongside Show of Hands' Steve Knightley and friends.

Birmingham native Jon Wilks talks about the city's folk scene, then and now.

Plus a melting-pot of music from around the Commonwealth.
