Friday Night Global mix; the sounds of Tokyo with Japanese DJ and producer Prettybwoy, who released his debut album 'Tayutau' last autumn.
The Tokyo based DJ and producer began his DJing career in 1999 but was introduced to a wider audience in 2013 via Big Dada鈥檚 Grime 2.0 compilation.
The album was made whilst troubled by unemployment and a hard-drive failure where he almost lost all his work, capped off by the uneven pandemic response and the controversial Olympics in Tokyo. Tayutau, which translates to "waver", reflects this uncertainty, as he states in the album notes: "This is a trip in search of my new identity, or maybe to understand my current one."
Friday Night Global is a monthly special extended mix whereby a guest gives an impression of how a night out might sound where they live. It's something that鈥檚 more than a straight up mix; perhaps we'd be taken to more places across the town/city/area than a normal night, maybe even a backroom or such, to showcase different sonic colours and sounds.
