Steve Rothery from Marillion

Steve Rothery, guitarist for Marillion, chooses his Rock God, plus Johnnie looks at the first number one album for a huge US band in 'This Week In Rock'.

Marillion are into their fifth decade of existence. hard to believe but true. The band's origins lie in 1979 and guitarist Steve Rothery is their longest serving member.
From '80s commercial chart success with Fish, to Steve Hogarth era hits and beyond, Marillion have always done it their own way and quietly amassed a huge fanbase along the way.
Their most recent album hit the UK charts at Number 2 and they're about to embark on several 'Marillion Weekends' across Europe, before a tour in the autumn.
Steve's Rock God is one you. may expect from him but one we've never had before - true to form, Steve's blazing a trail yet again.
Elsewhere on the show, Johnnie highlights a surprising first Number 1 hit album for one of America's best known rock bands for 'This Week In Rock' and spins a rarely heard punk-rock track he first discovered while DJ'ing in San Francisco....
