Darren Wharton from Dare

Former Thin Lizzy member and Dare frontman Darren Wharton picks his Rock God, plus Johnnie looks back at the final ever gig for one of the most legendary British heavy rock bands.

As a teenager, Darren Wharton found himself playing keys for Thin Lizzy.
After the band broke up in the mid 80's, he formed his own outfit, Dare...with none other than Professor Brian Cox on keys!
Over three decades later, the band are getting ready to release their tenth album (without Brian...think he got another job somewhere in the stratosphere?!).
Darren's Rock God is worthy of the worship and he has a great tale to go with it.
Elsewhere on the show, Johnnie marks the final gig of Britain's original heavy metal pioneers for 'This Week In Rock' plus there's new music from Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson and young Welsh rockers, Scarlet Rebels.
