Having covered almost 50 miles of the Speyside Way, Iain Robertson is joined out of Dalraddy by River City co-star Sally Howitt and surprises her with a trip on a steam train in Aviemore. The pair enjoy the train bustling through the countryside towards Boat of Garten.

Back on foot, Iain heads out of Aviemore only to discover that he is starting to feel sore and tired from the walking. Upon Nethy Bridge, Iain's spirits are lifted and he treats us to a unique interpretation of some Shakespeare.

The next morning, Iain is pointed in the right direction by a cheery and helpful local. As he wanders along the old train line, he is treated to some rather inhospitable Scottish weather before heading towards Cromdale, taking a slightly shorter path than he had planned. Cold and wet to the bone, he finally gets to enjoy a soak in a seven-foot bath that feels like a swimming pool.

On his final day on this stretch, Iain is once again battered by the weather, and his mood is not helped when his ankle gives way on the descent into Ballindalloch. Nonetheless, he pushes forward as best he can to enjoy the beautiful light at the end of the day and complete two-thirds of his journey.
