The Best of 2021
A wide and powerful range of conversations gathered for The Listening Project this past year by our team of local producers around the country. Presented by Fi Glover.
Fi Glover presents a selection of 5 conversations gathered by our team of local producers around the country- your chance to enjoy again some of our finest moments.
Former soldiers Michael and Nick, who have both done tours there, share their thoughts on how the military withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled; lorry drivers Becky and James discuss the realities of the trucking world; Alison and Nathan reflect on the impact being scammed has had on their lives; Helen and Chris share their opposing views on people owning second homes across the UK; and two women, both called Karen, talk about how and why their name has taken on a bad connotation over the last few years.
The Listening Project is a Radio 4 initiative that offers a snapshot of contemporary Britain in which people across the UK volunteer to have a conversation. The conversations are being gathered across the UK by teams of producers from local and national radio stations who facilitate each encounter. Every conversation lasts up to an hour and is then edited to extract the key moments of connection between the participants. Most of the unedited conversations are being archived by the British Library and used to build up a collection of voices capturing a unique portrait of the UK in this decade of the millennium.
