Actor and director Reggie Yates talks to Miranda Sawyer about his debut directorial feature film Pirates. Set in London on New Year鈥檚 Eve in 1999, the film follows three 18-year-old aspiring musicians and best mates. The film features a leading British garage soundtrack including tracks from So Solid Crew, Wookie, DJ Zinc, Sunship, Scott Garcia, Hardrive, Ms Dynamite, Peven Everett, Sia and DJ Luck & MC Neat.

After various acting parts, Yates worked in radio and television, presenting various shows for 91热爆 Radio 1 before moving into documentary work. He has also made short films including Date Night, which starred Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya and won best UK short at the London Independent Film Festival.
