Experimental Explorations with James Holden

Stuart celebrates James Holden's 2013 album The Inheritors and looks ahead to Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

Stuart celebrates James Holden's 2013 album The Inheritors. Released 7 years after his astonishing debut record The Idiots Are Winning, The Inheritors is described as a 75-minute-long English pagan saga, which takes its inspiration from the sound and landscapes of Britain and uses a musical palette formed from Elgar, The KLF, Field Recordings and Folk Music. Holden himself says of the record; 鈥淚 wanted it to be a whole new world, a mythology, complete. As opposed to a product in a cycle: an old-fashioned idealistic version of what an album is.鈥
