Piping from Vermont to Appalachia

Gary West takes a musical trip to the USA, with stopovers in Vermont, Appalachia, Texas and Seattle, and chats to expert Vermont-based piper Tim Cummings.

Following his recent musical journey to Nova Scotia, Gary West now invites us to head south down the North American coast to Vermont, perhaps an unexpected oasis of high quality piping. Gary chats to one of the musicians who has been making that a reality, Tim Cummings, whose musical interests also take in the southern highlands of Appalachia. With tunes too from fellow North Americans Jori Chisholm, Mike Cusack and Jim McGillivray, plus the pipe band sound of Manawatu Scottish from New Zealand, there can be little doubt of the truly international flavour of the world of bagpipes.
