6 Music's Deep Dive into Nevermind

We're looking back on Nevermind & the music from 1991 all day today. Butch Vig recalls his memories of making the album, & Mark Archer from Altern8 talks about the dance music of 91.

Friday 24th Sept will see a celebration across the daytime shows here at 6 Music of Nirvana's groundbreaking Nevermind album as it celebrates its 30th birthday. All day long, we'll be looking at this pioneering and culture shifting piece of work and playing music from the year of its release - 1991 - to provide context and reflection.

Throughout the day we鈥檒l be playing the album in full, a track each hour, as well as hearing from artists on what the album means to them. With Chris this afternoon, the album's producer Butch Vig shares some memories of making the album and in-depth production notes. Also, the Breeders and Wu Lu talk about what the album means to them.

Plus a look at the wider music scene in 1991 - Mark Archer from Altern-8 talks to Chris about the dance music scene of the time.
