Episode 3
Wildlife rescue officer Bob has interesting cases to deal with on his round including a bat caught in a light fitting, a stranded collared dove chick and a lost racing pigeon.
The SSPCA employs many field officers who are the front line in animal rescue. Bob is one of the most experienced. We join him on his rounds as he’s called in to a Central Belt house where a family has discovered a tiny and unexpected visitor – a pipistrelle bat inside a strip-light. It’s an easy rescue for Bob who quickly unfixes the light, liberates the bat and then takes it outside where it crawls happily back towards its rooftop roost.
Meanwhile another officer has collected an injured pine marten from the Highlands - the victim of an accidental snaring. Specialist vet Romain soon has the animal on the operating table. He discovers that the injuries aren’t as bad as they look and the marten is taken to an inside aviary for recovery.
Meanwhile Bob’s round continues and he manages to also rescue a collared dove chick and a lost racing pigeon.
The injured pine marten makes a quick recovery and it’s returned to the Wild near Inverness where a member of the public is keeping a caring eye on it.
