Violinist Rachel Podger gives a recital as part of this year's York Early Music Festival. From the cream of Baroque music for solo stringed instruments come Heinrich Biber鈥檚 haunting and mesmeric Passacaglia, a sonata by the great 18th-century violin-composer Giuseppe Tartini, full of subtle emotional colourings, and Bach鈥檚 superb D minor Partita, which culminates in another great and powerful chaconne. Rachel Podger adds to these her own recent transcription of the first of Bach鈥檚 solo Cello Suites.
