Good Morning.

Have you checked your social media account today? If you haven鈥檛 already, you鈥檒l probably do so later. And of course, it鈥檚 a great way to stay connected with family and friends - even work colleagues. For many, social media was a lifeline during the Pandemic, and it continues to be.

Twenty years ago, there was social media but not as prevalent. Today, social media influences elections. It isn鈥檛 something to be scoffed at.

The thing with social media though is that we all tend to create echo chambers. That鈥檚 where we become vulnerable because we start to become locked into our view of the world.

I think it鈥檚 important to break out of our silos that we construct and find opposite voices to ours.

That isn鈥檛 so easy on social media, I can assure you, because usually when you do it isn鈥檛 friendly. However, I have persevered and along the way I鈥檝e found people who disagree with me on everything, and you know what, it鈥檚 great. What a breath of fresh air!

Whether we work in a business or the public sector or even the third sector it鈥檚 important that we don鈥檛 surround ourselves with people who all clone what we say, think, and believe. A different point of view can add a more nuanced dimension. And it also makes more people feel like they鈥檙e included in decision making.

Thinking differently shouldn鈥檛 be a reason to keep someone out, it should be the reason to keep them in.

Dear Lord, the voice of our hearts sometimes only speaks to itself. Grant us the gift to listen to other voices because listening strengthens compassion for others and deepens our understanding of ourselves.
