New Music Fix Friday with The Lathums, Chubby and the Gang, and Wet Leg
Steve continues 6 Music's all-day celebration of new music with new sessions with The Lathums and Chubby and the Gang and a chat with Steve's latest obsession Wet Leg.
Steve continues 6 Music's all-day celebration of new music with new sessions recorded at Maida Vale from The Lathums and Chubby and the Gang as well as a chat with Steve's latest obsession Wet Leg. Plus some new music recommendations from two of our favourite artists to have broken through over the recent past, Dry Cleaning and NewDad.
Chubby and the Gang are a five-piece punk band from London led by Charlie "Chubby" Charles. Their released their debut album Speed Kills in 2020 and already set to follow it up with their second record The Mutt's Nuts on 27th August.
The Lathums are a young band from Wigan who have live shows supporting Blossoms and Paul Weller in the not-to-distant future. Their debut album has been produced by The Coral's James Skelly and is also expected sometime soon. They've built up a strong fanbase already despite limited opportunities to play live and released their latest single How Beautiful Life Can Be last month. Both Chubby and the Gang and The Lathums are making their Maida Vale debuts with these brand new session tracks.
Wet Leg are Lammo's latest obsession, playing their debut single Chaise Longue every day on the show the week after it came out in June. The two-piece are Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. Signed to Domino Records they hail from the Isle of Wight and we're expecting big things from them this year.
Steve also throws ahead to Record Store Day Drop 2 on the 17th July with the final Record Store Roadtrip of the week. The epic virtual trip ends at Resident in Brighton.
