Conductor Vasily Petrenko finds space and time in music

Vasily Petrenko opens up a selection of music from a conductor鈥檚 point of view - revealing familiar and unfamiliar works in a new light.

Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director designate of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Vasily Petrenko, chooses a wide selection of music, including Russia鈥檚 most played overture, a deeply touching interpretation of Shelley鈥檚 鈥楾he Sunset鈥� and a technically ambitious piano piece by Franz Liszt, in the hands of Sviatoslav Richter.

Vasily also talks about his early experiences as a singer - in both the Russian Orthodox Church and close harmony groups - and describes how to get Beethoven鈥檚 fifth symphony off to a good start (without mishaps).
