Lave Fishing & Wonderful Wildflowers
The Black Rock Lave Fishermen dissapointed with a catch and release only decision and the science behind why nature makes us feel good
1) Lave Fishing - it's a centuries old traditional fishery but for the second year running, the eight lave net fishermen, at Black Rock on the Severn estuary, have been told they must operate on a catch and release only basis again this summer. Natural Resources Wales say that killing even small numbers of salmon could negatively impact already threatened populations.
2) Energy Hub: Will the new Welsh Government give the go ahead to a new renewable energy hub on the Gwent levels? The hub could supply energy to 44,000 homes but there is mounting opposition to the project, as it is set to be built across a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
3) Do want to be a tree warden? A new group of volunteer wardens has been formed in the Brecon Beacons and one of their first tasks has been to plant a new disease-resistant elm tree, donated to them by the Tree Council to mark 30 years of tree wardens.
4) What鈥檚 the science behind why nature makes us feel good? The Growing Together study, run by the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Swansea University aims to find out, combining wildflowers and wellbeing to sow seeds of joy!
