Young Trad at 20 with Ali Levack

Bruce chats to Pete Clark about a new bronze sculpture of Niel Gow installed in Perthshire & we conclude the Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now series with 2020 winner Ali Levack

Born in Strathbraan, Perthshire, in 1727 and essentially a self-taught musician, Niel Gow became Scotland's most famous fiddler of the 18th Century. His legacy has been honoured by a new bronze sculpture by David Annand, installed in Little Dunkeld. Made possible by the support and donations of the public and the campaigning of the Niel Gow Festival Society, the sculpture shows the importance of Gow's legacy to Perthshire and traditional music today. Chair of the Niel Gow Festival Society, Pete Clark, joins Bruce to talk about this legendary fiddler and how he came to be commemorated.

And in the second hour, Bruce concludes the Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now series after a full year of getting to know each and every previous winner of the 91热爆 Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year award. With just a couple of weeks to go before a new winner is crowned for 2021, reigning champion, Ali Levack, shares his experience of winning in an unprecedented year for the competition as well as his music choices.
