11/01/21 Stranded Sheep, US Trade Deal, Vertical Farming

The stranded Scottish sheep which should be in Northern Ireland, and more trials for vertical farming.

Sheep farmers in Northern Ireland who bought stock from Scottish markets in the autumn say they have no option but to sell them as they are no longer allowed to ship them into Northern Ireland. They could be not moved before the January 1st deadline because of rules regarding the age of the animals. It's thought there are some 7000 sheep, valued at around 拢130 each stuck on mainland GB because they now don't meet the right EU health and residency requirements.

A vertical farm growing water cress, mini leeks and other veg is being trialled at a farm shop on Anglesey. The aim is to see how the produce can be taken to contribute to a bigger supply chain.

And all this week we're taking an international look at farming - starting with an alternative vision for a UK-US trade deal.
