Canon Jenny Wigley
A service led by Canon Jenny Wigley, who explores the life and example of St Francis of Assisi as we face the challenges of rising Covid numbers and new restrictions on our lives.
‘Preach the gospel, use words if necessary’.
An instruction said to have been given by St Francis of Assisi to his brother friars as they travelled the length and breadth of Italy living out the message of the gospel in word and action. Our service celebrates the life and work of this humble saint, known for his encouragement of simple living and care for the environment. Canon Jenny Wigley considers what St Francis’ story can say to us as we face the challenges of rising Covid numbers and new restrictions on our everyday lives.
Hymns include ‘All creatures of our God and King’, ‘Blest are the pure in heart’ and Paul Maelor’s setting of words by St Francis himself, ‘Make me a channel of your peace’.
