Vision Aid Overseas

Our vision is that no one lives in poverty because of poor eyesight, and no one lives with poor eyesight because of poverty. We enable people living in poverty to access affordable glasses and eye care. Because poor eyesight can have a devastating impact on your life and livelihood. According to the World Health Organization, restoring sight is one of the most cost-effective health interventions to reduce poverty.

Child eye health – making sure children can see to succeed

Child eye health – making sure children can see to succeed
12 million children worldwide struggle to learn because they struggle to see. But we already have the solution. Access to good eye care and glasses. Our appeal about Catherine from Zambia tells how glasses can transform how a child feels about themselves and their future.

Primary Eye Care – reaching people affected by poverty

We train Community Health Workers so they can screen and refer people who have eye health issues. We run community health campaigns too. People with poor eyesight whose condition goes untreated can find their eyesight worsens and this may even lead to blindness.

Training & Education – lasting solutions in African countries

Training & Education – lasting solutions in African countries
If any country is to become self-sufficient in delivering quality eye care services, it must have skilled human resources to do the job. We build the capacity of eye health professionals. Lansana and Ismail, pictured, are now qualified Optometry Technicians in Sierra Leone.
