Simon Thoumire, Joy Dunlop & Shooglenifty

Young Trad semi finals news from Simon Thoumire, a new Gaelic Festival with Joy Dunlop & the mighty Shooglenifty on the release of their brand new album.

The 91热爆 Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year semi finals weekend would normally take place in Wiston Lodge, Biggar. However, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, that just wasn't possible this year. Simon Thoumire from Hands Up for Trad joins Bruce to tell us what the competition has in store for its musicians instead and reveals who will be competing for a coveted spot in the finals.

Hands Up for Trad are also launching a brand new online Gaelic music festival called Tional this weekend - jam packed with non-stop Gaelic music. The aim is to celebrate Gaelic language and music and Joy Dunlop has pulled it all together. Joy joins Bruce and Simon to chat about what's coming up over the weekend.

Shooglenifty are celebrating a milestone in 2020 - 30 years of making incredible music! And what better way to celebrate than the release of a brand new album, Acid Croft Vol. 9, out 18th September. James Mackintosh, Ewan MacPherson and the band's newest member, fiddler Eilidh Shaw, join Bruce to chat about the music, 30 years of Acid Croft and plans for the album release.
