The Love Song and Melanie C

Melanie C selects her favourite tracks with Ken in an interview first broadcast in 2012. There's the daily love song and more from the PopMaster Music Quiz.

Melanie C, first known as Sporty Spice during her time with The Spice Girls, is choosing the Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2012. It came at the time "Viva Forever!" the musical based around the songs of The Spice girls was opening on the West End stage. It was written by Jennifer Saunders and produced by Judy Craymer who was also behind the hugely successful "Mamma Mia" musical based on the songs of Abba. Melanie C continues to go from strength to strength and is still performing today. In March this year, she released "Who I Am", the lead single from her eighth album, "Melanie C".

Having co-written 11 UK Number 1s, more than any other female artist in chart history, she remains the only female performer to top the charts as a solo artist, as part of a duo, quartet and quintet. With 12 UK Number 1 singles, including the charity single as part of The Justice Collective, she is the second female artist 鈥 and the first British female artist 鈥 with most singles at number 1 in the United Kingdom, and with a total of 14 songs that have received the number 1 in Britain (including the double A-sides), Melanie is the female artist with most songs at number 1 in the UK ranking history. Her work has earned her several awards and nominations, including a Guinness Book mention, three World Music Awards, five Brit Awards from 10 nominations, three American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards from six nominations, eight Billboard special awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards from seven nominations, one MTV Video Music Awards from two nomination, ten ASCAP awards, one Juno Award from two nominations, and four nominations at the Echo Awards. Her next two chosen tracks come from The Beatles and her own band The Spice Girls. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of PopMaster.
