Kids going back to school, Ahmed Nawaz and Harjap Bhangal

Qasa asks, do you think it’s safe for children to go back to school in September?

First, Qasa Alom gets a round-up of the latest news from our reporter Dil Neiyyar. After that our North West reporter Rahila Bano has been finding out how the Asian community in Blackburn feels about a local lockdown. The Lancashire town has been under stricter rules than other parts of the country after a surge in Covid-19 cases. In our Phone-in we want to know if you think it’s safe for children to go back to school in September. This comes after the UK’s chief medical adviser said that children are more likely to be harmed by not returning to school than if they catch coronavirus. However, some people are worried that it could add to the spread of the virus to parents and vulnerable adults. Plus, artist Amandeep Singh , AKA Inkquisitive, marks exactly ten years to the start of his career with his first illustrated book – ‘Ink Trails: Bedtime Stories for the End of the World’. Also, we’ll be joined by Ahmed Nawaz, who six years ago survived after his school in Pakistan was targeted by Taliban gunmen, which left 130 children dead. After a long recovery, Ahmed has now accepted a place to study at Oxford University. And we’ll be joined by this week’s guru – Harjap Bhangal. The immigration lawyer is live on the show to answer your questions.
